WATER MINISTER RECEIVES FULL BUSINESS COMPLIANCE CERTIFICATE ON 30MW GURARA HYDRO-POWER PLANT
In recognition of his tireless efforts towards the provision and development of Water Sector Infrastructure in Nigeria, the Honourable Minister of Water Resources, Engr. Suleiman H. Adamu FNSE on Monday 18th March; 2019 in Abuja received Full Business Case (FBC) Compliance Certificate on 30MW Gurara Hydropower from the Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission (ICRC).
In his address, Engr Adamu noted that with this feat, the Ministry has now concluded the procurement exercise for the concession contract and ready to seek the approval of the Federal Executive Council towards awarding and signing the Concession Agreement.
The Minister said “your efforts will enable us to put the Gurara Phase1 30MW Hydropower Plant into effective operation towards increasing access to electricity in our country for job creation and better life for the people’’. The Honourable Minister appreciated the Director General and staff of the ICRC for coming to physically present the Certificate of Compliance to him and requested for their continuous support.
Earlier in her welcome remarks, the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Water Resources, Mrs. Ekaro Comfort. C expressed satisfaction with the presentation of the Certificate to the Honourable Minister and stated that the exercise will pave way for other remarkable achievements in the Water and Sanitation Sector.
In his presentation, the Director General, ICRC Engr. Chidi Izuwah said that Gurara Hydropower Project is one project that he is very proud of and one of the best dam sites in the World conceptualized to serve many purposes including provision of urban and rural water supplies, irrigation and hydropower generation.
