The Honourable Minister of Water Resources Engr Suleiman H.Adamu FNSE,FAEng, has said that following the Concession signing agreement between FMWR and North-South Power Company Ltd, all was now set to put the Gurara 30MW Hydropower into sustainable operation towards increasing access to electricity in our country, especially in Kaduna State, for job creation and better life for our people. The Hon Minister made this comment today 12th May, 2020 at a briefing ceremony to mark the signing of the Concession agreement. Speaking further, Engr Adamu noted that public private partnership is a veritable relationship that will not only accelerate infrastructural development in Nigeria but would equally enhance their effective and efficient operation and maintenance. Engr Adamu reiterated that with the experience that has been gained from the Concession process,  the Ministry is now set to accelerate the pace of engagement with the private partners for other opportunities. The Honourable Minister then urged for continued support of the Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission (ICRC) and all other stakeholders to enable the achievement of this vision.

The Director General Engr Chidi Izuwo in an emotion laden speech, appreciated  the leadership role of the Minister of Water Resources Engr Suleiman H.Adamu in the Concession process and informed that this project would not only add 30MW to the existing power generation capacity of the country but would also bring N17.6 billion Naira revenue to the coffers of the nation as well as create jobs for a lot of Nigerians. Earlier at the meeting, Engr Benson Ajisekiri Director Water Supply and PPP during his opening speech on the journey of the Concession process, provided a detailed account of the Concession process which started on 25th October, 2015 and which went through rigorous processes according to laid down procedures and which eventually received the final approval of Federal Executive Council on 18th April, 2019.

The Concession agreement signing was executed between FMWR represented by Permanent Secretary Mrs. Comfort Ekaro. C and North-South Power Company Ltd represented the Director of the company.
