FG SIGNED MOU WITH NASARAWA STATE, TO TAKEOVER AND COMPLETE FARIN RUWA DAM PROJECT
In its bid to complete all on-going and abandoned water sector projects in the country, the Federal Government on Tuesday, 13th November, 2018, in Abuja signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Nasarawa State Government to enable her takeover and complete Farin Ruwa Dam project.
The project was conceptualized in 2001 with the intention of providing about 20 mw of power to Nasarawa State, but due to paucity of funds, the project could not be completed.
Technical Teams of the Federal Ministry of Water Resources and their counterparts from Nasarawa State Ministry of Water Resources and Rural Development had looked critically at the project status, level of completion and the possibility of incorporating other components like irrigation, water supply and hydro power generation to facilitate the signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and takeover from Nasarawa State.
The signing of the Memorandum of understanding was carried out in the presence of the Honourable Minister of water Resources Engr. Suleiman H. Adamu FNSE and Tanko Almakura, the Executive Governor of Nasaraw State at the maiden 2018 Nigeria Media Water week event that took place in Abuja from 13th to 16th of November, 2018.
