Mr. Emmanuel Aweh

Director, Water Quality & Sanitation Control

Mr. Emmanuel O. Awe was born on 27th October, 1964 in Mopa, Mopa-Muro LGA of Kogi State. He has both B.Sc and M.Sc Chemistry from the University of Ilorin in 1985 and 1991 respectively. He further studied Planning and Management of Water Resources at Carls Duisberg Gesellschaft E. V, Germany in 1999, and a senior Management Training in Water Quality at UNESCO – IHE, Delft, The Netherlands in 2008.

He started his career in the Federal Ministry of Water Resources in October 1993 as a Senior Scientific Officer (GLl 10) Officer and became a Director in January, 2015. He is presently the Director, Water Quality Control and Sanitation, the Chairman, National Task Group on Sanitation, the Nigeria focal person for the Sanitation and Water for All (SWA), one of the two Nigeria focal persons for United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE)’s Water Convention, and the Nigerian focal person for United Nations Environment Programme – Global Environmental Monitoring Systems for Freshwater (UNEP GEMS/Water).

He also represents the Ministry on the Board of National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency (NESREA), and Cross River Basin Development Agency (CRBDA).

Mr. Awe is very approachable as he encourages and motivates his staff to be courageous, diligent, upright and hardworking in handling all duties assigned to them.
